It can be easy to look at the world around you and see nothing but heartache. But happiness and love can also be found: all you have to do is open your eyes. The next time you look at the world, choose to see the joy instead of the sadness. This video is a perfect example.
I was always an avid reader growing up. I loved to go to the library and peruse book after book, bring home stacks of novels that I practically inhaled. To this day I have an overactive imagination, so I always put myself into the books I read, whether it be Nancy Drew or Harry Potter. During my free time at school I would often pull out a book and escape to a different world, oblivious to the things around me.
Books are one of my favorite forms of inspiration. There are so many different authors and genres to fit what you are looking for. It always saddens me to hear a child (or adult!) say that they don’t like to read, because reading can be so fun and so beautiful. Multiple times I have had to put down a book because I get too emotional, and other times I have found myself yelling at the pages at something a character has done.
The best thing you can do for your mind and heart is to read. There are thousands upon thousands of lessons to be learned from books, and all it takes is a quick trip to the local library or bookstore to become captivated.
Next time you are feeling like you are lacking inspiration, settle down with a good book and get lost in its pages. Sink down into the words and realize the wonder and power that words and books can have on your life.

Get Inspired: Sarah Kay

If anyone will leave you feeling inspired about life, it is Sarah Kay. Her spoken word is incredible, and this Ted Talk is one of my favorites.
Why yes, I did write a little ditty about that crazy three letter word. Get educated, son!
Get Inspired : S-E-X

Sex. Yes, I said it. S-E-X. It’s the three letter word that makes most people cringe. But isn’t it time that we, as adults, learn about sex? Shouldn’t we set our own boundaries of what we want to do and don’t want to do with our significant others? I firmly believe that we shouldn’t wait until we are in a serious relationship to figure out the details on who we are as relational and sexual beings. Yes, I just said sexual beings. I can already see my friends shaking their heads in horror.
Here’s the thing - we need to stop being afraid to talk about relationships and sex. People have sex. It happens. Some people choose to have a lot of sex while others choose to wait. Even so, it is up to us to become educated on who we are and what our body does.
On that note, I was inspired this week by the wonderful and extremely intelligent Laci Green. She posts weekly videos on all things sex education-related. I spent the majority of yesterday perusing through her videos, and I feel inspired to get talking about the hard issues (er, no pun intended), and get educated about my life when it comes to the relationships that matter.
Start small, whether it be through asking questions or watching YouTube videos, and get educated about your sex life. Lay down your boundaries about sex now, whether you are having it or not, so that you and your significant other (whether it be now or in the future), can have a strong, healthy relationship.
What about you? Do you talk about sex to your friends (or family)? When did you become educated about your body, or do you still feel in the dark? Let me know in the comments below!
